Review of On Spec, Fall 2006
TangentOnline posted a review of the Fall 2006 issue of On Spec, the one containing my story "A Bit of the True Material".

The review's synopsis is very slightly off; it's possible I needed to make a certain plot point more clear. Still, "By turns ordinary, whimsical, and dark, this is a powerful little story that packs a lot of narrative oomph into a short space.". I can live with that.

I re-read the story today, since I just got my copy in the mail. It's not your plot; I think the reviewer just got confused. But the review's spot on: it does pack a wallop of oomph in short shrift. Now if you'd just finish it--and by "it" I mean the book this story is clearly meant to be--you'll be all set.

(I still remember my frantic, futile jabs at the PgDn button once I reached the last page. Bastard.)
